Reflexology

Oh... Reflexology! Did you know it is also known as zone therapy?

This is an alternative medical practice involving the application of pressure to specific points on the feet and hands. This is done using specific thumb, finger, and hand massage techniques without the use of oil or lotion.

There are more than 7000 nerve endings in the human foot, and by targeting these nerve endings in a treatment we are able to assist the flow of energy through the body to the areas affected by illness or stress. I do always like to let people know that Reflexology can hurt when the congested reflex areas are treated but at the end of a treatment you will leave thoroughly revived and relaxed.

Reflexology is linked too many potential benefits, but only a few have been involved in scientific studies.

It is said to:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety

  • Reduce pain

  • Lift mood

  • Improve general well-being

In addition, people have reported that reflexology has also helped them:

  • Boost their immune system

  • Fight cancer

  • Get over colds and bacterial infections

  • Clear up sinus issues

  • Recover from back problems

  • Correct hormonal imbalances

  • Boost fertility

  • Improve digestion

  • Ease arthritis pain

  • Treat nerve problems and numbness

I appreciate these are some strong claims but the one main proven result of Reflexology is deep relaxation. When the body relaxes it is able to heal.  I always recommend my clients consult their GP, Consultant and other health care providers before having a treatment if they suffer from long term or terminal medical conditions.
