What a wonderful way of looking after ourselves. Your brain releases feel-good chemicals and pain diminishes when having a massage. It causes an immediate reaction in your brain and when skin's nerve cells feel pressure, they signal the brain to release feel-good chemicals called endorphins. This boosts your mood and give you a natural high.
I like to tailor each treatment and combine elements of different massage techniques. I offer Swedish massage (this can be tailored in pressure), Tsubo pressure point, Indian Head, neck and shoulder massage and Aromatherapy massage.
There are channels of energy flow in the body and specific points for engaging with that energy movement. Acupressure can help to restore harmony to the body’s energetic currents by applied pressure.
Acupoints, called tsubo in Japan, are weak spots along the path of a channel. They are places where the activity of that channel may be more easily affected. Typically, they occur near joints, in the depressed junctures where muscles meet, in areas where nerves emerge from muscle, or in a knot or band of tension within a muscle. There is research that identifies 365 principal tsubo in the body. Different points have different characteristics. Some points supplement or stimulate the channel, organ, or physiological function. Some have a draining or calming effect. Others appear to be homeostatic. The tsubo are “windows” reflecting internal disharmonies on the body’s surface, and they are also “doorways” by which to therapeutically influence those internal conditions.
The most common type of massage is Swedish massage therapy. It involves long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on topmost layers of muscles. This is also combined with movement of the joints. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and energising. And it may even help after an injury. The routine can be completed with deeper tissue pressure so can help with problem areas. Deliberate strokes focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, or other tissues deep under your skin. It becomes a more therapeutic massage.
Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is a relaxing holistic treatment that uses acupressure massage to release stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. In addition, the treatment involves pressure point massage that stimulate the face. The benefits not only include deep relaxation but have amazing effects on the skin!
